Below you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our weekly trash service.

Q: What can I put in my cart for weekly pick up?

A: Weekly trash service is intended for compactable trash such as paper, plastic, cardboard, cans and jars.  A limited amount of yard debris may be included such as grass clippings, twigs and small limbs.  Things you should not dispose of in your cart include TVs, microwaves, tires, construction material, large lawn debris, car batteries, or liquids of any kind such as paint, pesticides, oil/fuel or refrigerant.  If you have questions about an item, just give us a call and we’ll be happy to help.

Q: What can I put in my dumpster for weekly pick up?

A: Even though our dumpsters are large, they are only intended for compactable trash such as paper, plastic, cardboard, cans and jars.  A limited amount of yard debris may be included such as grass clippings, twigs and small limbs. Things you should not dispose of in your dumpster include TVs, microwaves, furniture, appliances, tires, construction material (carpet, tile, shingles, lumbar, concrete, etc.), large lawn debris, car batteries, or liquids of any kind such as paint, pesticides, oil/fuel or refrigerant. If you have questions about an item, just give us a call and we’ll be happy to help.

Q: I just need service for a couple of weeks/months.  How long do I have to keep the service?
A: The minimum length for our weekly service is 6 months for carts and 1 year for dumpsters.  If you need to cancel service sooner, please contact our office for any applicable cancellation fees.

Q: Do you pick up bulk items or items not allowed in my weekly trash cart or dumpster?

A: PWS provides bulk trash service to our customers.  A fee in addition to your monthly service rates may apply depending on the size and weight of the item(s). You can request a free quote for your bulk pick up by visiting our contact page

Q: I have more trash than will fit in my cart.  Will you pick up extra trash?

A: All PWS customers are allowed a cumulative total of one additional yard per month. That’s equivalent to 2 carts!  If you have extra trash from time to time, please set it out in a bag or box next to your cart and we will pick it up.

Q: What time will you pick up my trash?

A: Your service time may change periodically due to several factors.  To ensure your trash is picked up on your scheduled service day, please have your trash out by 7AM.

Q:  I forgot to put my trash out.  Will you make another trip to come pick it up?

A: At PWS, we are working hard to keep our rates as low as possible and a large part of that is efficiency in our scheduled service. We will be happy to pick up your trash the following week on your regularly scheduled service day.

Q: My scheduled service falls on a holiday.  Will you pick up my trash?

A: PWS observes four holidays each year; New Year’s Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Garbage will not be collected on these days and service for the remainder of the week will run one day behind.   During the week of a holiday, if your service day is BEFORE the holiday, there will be no change in your service.

For example, if New Year's Day falls on a Wednesday, Monday and Tuesday service will remain unaffected.  Wednesday will be collected on Thursday, Thursday will be collected on Friday and Friday will be collected on Saturday.
